The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called an emergency meeting of its highest policy-making body, the National Standing Committee.
The meeting will be held on Saturday (10 May) at 10:30 pm at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka.
Earlier in the afternoon, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter.
He said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will preside over the meeting.
Sources said the emergency meeting has been convened by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to discuss the party’s stance in the context of the ongoing “Shahbagh blockade” programme demanding a ban on the Awami League, in consultation with senior party leaders.
In addition, the meeting is expected to carry out a routine review of the current political situation.
