The capital experienced two earthquakes this evening, Saturday. According to the Meteorological Department, the epicentres of both tremors were located in the Badda area of the capital.
Meteorologist Tarifful Newaz Kabir of the Meteorological Department said that two earthquakes occurred in quick succession this evening. The first tremor struck at 6:06:04 pm, measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale. Just one second later, at 6:06:05 pm, a second earthquake was recorded with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale. Both earthquakes originated in the Badda area of Dhaka.
Earlier today, another mild earthquake was felt in Narsingdi. The tremor occurred in Palash upazila at 10:36:12 am and measured 3.3 on the Richter scale.
Yesterday, Friday, at 10:38 am, a strong earthquake shook the capital and surrounding areas. The tremor was felt across the country, prompting many people to rush out of their homes in panic. As a result, 10 people, including children, lost their lives and more than 600 were injured. The highest number of fatalities—five—were reported in Narsingdi.
