Azim from Chattogram and Brishti from Manikganj—this couple, active on international adult-content web platforms while operating from within the country—have caused a major stir among law-enforcement agencies. Investigators believe they were part of a dangerous network that not only produced videos and uploaded them to overseas sites, but also drew others into the same activity. The pair were arrested at around 3:30 am on Sunday from a rented flat in the Balaghata area of Hajipara in Bandarban by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). According to Jasim Uddin Khan, Special Superintendent of Police (Media) of the CID, their first video appeared on an international platform in May 2024. Investigators say the duo did not confine themselves to producing content alone. One of their key activities was recruiting other young men and women into the same world. Cash payments and tempting promises of “recognition in the glamour industry” were allegedly used as inducements, with the campaign run through Telegram, Facebook and Instagram. According to CID figures, 112 videos produced by the pair were published within a year and viewed more than 25 million times. In terms of popularity, they ranked eighth globally among adult-content performers up to October 2025. During interrogation, they admitted to regularly uploading content to multiple international pornographic websites. At the same time, they reportedly posted images online portraying a lavish lifestyle to encourage newcomers, filling their Telegram channels with messages along the lines of, “If we can do it, so can you.” CID official Jasim Uddin Khan said, “Their educational qualifications do not go beyond primary level. Yet online they are seen flaunting luxury clothing, cars and a foreign lifestyle. From a social and moral standpoint, this is deeply concerning.” He added that steps have already been taken to block their published videos within Bangladesh. Investigations are also under way to determine how much money they earned from these activities, how the funds were brought into the country, and who else was involved in the network. Local sources said Azim rented a flat in a multi-storey building in the Balaghata area on 12 October, introducing themselves as “husband and wife” and paying Tk 10,000 in rent. The building caretaker said, “After moving in, they hardly went outside and mostly kept to themselves.” Following the incident, law-enforcement officials say the shadow of a “dark industry” has taken root within the country—and dismantling this network has now become an urgent necessity.
