A ‘rickshaw gown’ made from rickshaw material—glittering in appearance and instantly eye-catching. And when a graceful woman walks confidently in such an outfit, it is bound to draw attention. On 10 May, the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant began in Telangana, Hyderabad, India. At the Miss World 2025 competition, Bangladesh’s representative Aklima Atika Konika turned heads by wearing a rickshaw gown. Among 110 contestants, Aklima stood out in this distinctive attire.
The gown, designed in the style of a rickshaw and featuring a hood, is adorned with colourful patterns. Notably, the words “Ma-babar doya” (Parents’ blessings) are written on the back. This striking outfit was created by young designer Raisa Ami Shailee.
The licence for Miss World Bangladesh 2025 has been acquired by entrepreneur, national director and model Azra Mahmood. Speaking to the media, she said, “Aklima is a symbol of talent, beauty and hard work. She is a new face whom the Miss World organisation wants to present to the world. At the international level, she brings experience, dedication and love for her country. We are hopeful that she will soon become a source of pride for Bangladesh.”
