There was a time when her face would appear the moment television screens were switched on. Dramas, telefilms, advertisements—she was a regular presence everywhere. We’re talking about Tanjin Tisha. She is no longer seen as frequently as before, but whenever she does appear on screen, she offers the audience something different. Tanjin Tisha was seen at an awards ceremony on Friday. With her neat appearance, confident smile and mature outlook, she seemed like an even more refined artiste. There, she spoke about her current philosophy of work, saying, “I don’t want to do more work—I want to do quality work.” Within that statement lies a great deal of practice, experience, pain and love. In Tisha’s words, “Those of us who are actors do many projects each year. If even one of those works leaves a mark on the audience and earns praise, that itself is success. Ghumpori is exactly such a project. Working on this film, I discovered something new within myself as well.” The web film Ghumpori was released on 20 February. Her chemistry with Pritom Hasan and the freshness of the story earned widespread praise from viewers. The impact of the project still lingers with Tisha. She says, “You could say I still haven’t completely come out of Ghumpori.” However, she no longer runs after the number of projects she does. If she doesn’t like a story, she simply says no. She plans carefully, feels the character from within, and only then commits to a project. Tisha says, “I try to work less, but I want those works to stay in the audience’s minds. I’m satisfied with the quality of the projects I’ve done for Eid, and I hope the audience will feel the same.”
