Dhallywood actress Nusrat Faria was released from jail on Tuesday afternoon. After being freed on bail, the actress expressed her feelings in an immediate reaction through a post on social media.
At 4:30 pm, Nusrat Faria shared another post on her Facebook page, in which she wrote, “I have gone through the most critical time of my life over these two days. I was mentally completely broken.”
She expressed gratitude to all her well-wishers, colleagues, fellow artistes in the industry and members of the public. Faria wrote, “I want to sincerely thank everyone who stood by me throughout this time. Without your support, I might not have been able to return to you so quickly.”
Offering special thanks, Nusrat Faria added, “I especially want to thank our media professionals. Their support was extremely important for me. I will always remember the love you have shown me.”
On 18 May in the afternoon, actress Nusrat Faria was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. She was later shown as arrested in an attempted murder case filed at Bhatara Police Station in the capital and was subsequently sent to jail by court order.
Although 22 May had initially been set as the date for her bail hearing, the court held a special hearing and granted her bail a day earlier, on Tuesday (20 May). She was released from jail at 3:28 pm this afternoon.
According to case sources, on 19 July last year, a man named Enamul Haque took part in the ‘July movement’ in Dhaka’s Bhatara area and was seriously injured after being shot. After undergoing treatment for several months, he recovered and filed the case on 3 May this year. In the case, Nusrat Faria has been listed as accused number 207. The first information report (FIR) describes her as a ‘financier’ of the Awami League.
