Thunderstorms with rain

Rain is forecast across all divisions, and daytime temperatures are expected to fall.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms with rain across all eight divisions of the country, including Dhaka. It also said that heavy rainfall may occur in parts of three divisions. The information was provided in a forecast issued on Sunday (18 May) by meteorologist Md Hafizur Rahman of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. According to the Met Office, over the next 24 hours, some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds accompanied by lightning, rain or thunderstorms. In addition, moderate to heavy, and in places very heavy, rainfall may occur in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Daytime temperatures across the country may fall slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged. The mild heatwave currently affecting Khulna division, including Bandarban district, may ease. From 9:00 am on Monday (19 May) for the following 24 hours, some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions, and one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, may again see temporary gusty winds with lightning, rain or thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Daytime temperatures may remain nearly unchanged nationwide, while night temperatures may rise slightly. From 9:00 am on Tuesday (20 May) for the next 24 hours, some areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with lightning, rain or thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged. From 6:00 am on Wednesday (21 May) for the following 24 hours, some areas of Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions, and one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with lightning, rain or thunderstorms. Day and night temperatures across the country may rise slightly. From 9:00 am on Thursday (22 May) for the next 24 hours, one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty winds with lightning, rain or thunderstorms. Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said there is no significant change expected in the weather situation over the next five days.
